Chief Democrat Lulzim Basha has expressed that his proposal in the Assembly that Albania should help Kosovo with 50 million euros a year in military aid, has been welcomed by international partners and Kosovo itself.

Basha made the comments in an interview with the media, where he said that Albania should stand by Kosovo in this difficult situation.

He also added that a proposal of his to seize assets of the Russian Federation was unanimously approved in the Committee on Democracy and Political Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

I have four issues to raise, related to four current developments of several weeks. Starting with the current ones, although it is an issue that goes beyond the borders of Albania, even beyond the borders of the region, it is an issue that is also related to Albania, of course with Kosovo and the region and this is yesterday’s unanimous approval in the Committee for Democracy and Political Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe of the three documents proposed by me in the capacity of rapporteur on a topic that we have reported on extensively but that I have not had the opportunity to discuss with you or the public regarding the confiscation of assets and sovereign assets of Russia, the Russian Federation located outside the Russian Federation.

It has been a long process that started last year, which will continue, I hope after the approval of the Political Committee and the other administrative steps of this process will be presented to the parliamentary assembly in plenary session for approval and will be concretized in an international instrument and an international fund, where the states that have funds, assets of the Russian Federation will transfer these assets and then they will be administered to help Ukraine.

Without any discussion, we as a country should be ranked next to the democratic countries, next to the Euro-Atlantic Alliance. Albania must stand by Kosovo. We made an amendment to the budget to reallocate 50 million euros of military aid to Kosovo. This proposal has been welcomed in Kosovo and by the partners. I hope for responsible discussion and approval of this amendment.
