The Ministry of Defense has announced this Monday that there are currently 7 active wildfires spread across the entire nation and there a new one have now broken out in the Mountain of Terbun, in Puke.
Strong winds have become the cause for major delays and difficulties amongst the firefighting rescue teams that are trying to put out the flames.
According to the notice posted by the ministry, in the county of Lezha 60% of the wildfires have been isolated, whereas in Miredita the wildfires are rapidly growing and their intensity hasn’t lowered.
New wildfires:
- Terbun Mountina, Puke
Active wildfires:
- Flet village, Fushe-Arres
- Dardhe village, Puke
- Thirre village, Lezha
- Runa Peka, Kukes
- Kacni village, Diber (2 wildfires)
Over 300 wildfires have been registered during the summer in several areas around Albania according to Global Forest Watch (GFW), that is monitoring the situation of forests around the world, through satellite view. The majority broke out in the past 3 weeks.
