“70% of students are employed”, increasing interest in professional education in Gjirokastra

Vocational education is now regarded by young people as a good employment opportunity. Vocational High School “Thoma Papapano” in Gjirokastra, with a tradition of about 50 years, prepares and trains young people for the labor market.

During this academic year, 140 students from the South of the country and other areas continued their secondary studies in this school.

“To learn a thermohydraulic trade, to be employed in a business with which I can create a future for myself and my family”, says a student.

This vocational school offers several courses such as services in means of transport, electrotechnics, thermohydraulics and information technology while bringing young people closer to the labor market.

About 70% of students who graduate are employed in various businesses, mainly in the Gjirokastra area and beyond. In this way, they provide a job and also contribute to the support of local business.

In Gjirokastra, the interest of young people to be employed in local businesses as well as in the tourism sector is increasing.
