It has been 7 years since the decision of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo regarding the Deçani Monastery.

The QUINT states in Kosovo have reacted to this, and have requested the implementation of this decision of the Constitution, which confirmed the ownership of the Deçan Monastery over several hectares of land.

“Leaders of the missions of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the European Union repeat the call for the Government of Kosovo to fully and urgently implement the legal registration of the land of Deçan Monastery. In May 2016, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo confirmed the ownership of Deçan Monastery over several hectares of land. Despite this legal decision and subsequent requests, the Court’s decision has not been implemented yet”, says the statement issued by the QUINT states in Pristina.

They continue saying that they are “united in support of the democratic and European future of Kosovo”.

“The rule of law and respect for the independence of the judiciary are obligations for all democratically elected governments and necessary preconditions for Kosovo’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, including further progress in Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe. Further delay is a problem to this progress,” the statement said.
