A serious accident resulting in death occurred this Sunday evening in Gjiri in Lalëzit.

An 8-year-old girl from Slovakia was hit by a car driven by an 18-year-old man. The minor was immediately transported to the hospital, but unfortunately she did not manage to survive.

“Around 8:00 p.m., on the Maminas-Gjiri i Lalesit road segment, a vehicle driven by citizen G. Gj., 18 years old, hit a minor citizen S. S., 8 years old, from Slovakia. As a result of the collision, the 8-year-old girl lost her life in the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was escorted to the police station for further procedural actions.

The investigative team is at the scene and under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office is working to clarify the circumstances and the cause of the accident”, says the police announcement.
