With the start of the new academic year, 8 young people from the Presevo Valley will study at the “Eqerem Çabej” university in Gjirokastër.
Although they will stay hundreds of kilometers away from their hometown, they will benefit from financial support to ensure free accommodation and the cycle of studies. Most of them have chosen the nursing branch, not as a passport to leave the country, but to serve the motherland.
“The environment is fantastic, the people are hospitable, the culture is also very good and the country is beautiful,” said Besard Osmani, one of the students.
“It is very special because Albania’s diploma is recognized in our country and our country needs new nurses. When I came here, all the people behaved well with us and I like it very much and I will learn to adapt very quickly,” said Albulena Ramadani, a student.
The University of Gjirokastra, with an activity of about 50 years, is the most important academic institution in the south of the country, where this year it will welcome Albanians from all Albanian-speaking regions.
