Around €1,064,119 from the state budget was allocated for this year’s parliamentary elections or more than double from four years ago.

A large portion of this sum will go to the Socialist Party after securing the largest proportion of the ballots (over 768,000) or translated in numbers €531,906.

Coming in second was the Democratic Party with over 622,000 ballots, estimated as €425,515.

Third, came the Socialist Movement for Integration with more than 107,000 votes, a sum that it will grant the SMI €73,632. Lastly, the Social-Democratic Party received 35,000 votes, meaning it will benefit €24,558.

In light of the amendments to the Electoral Code a year ago, the smaller parties that raced under the banner of the Democratic Party are not entitled to claim any financial benefits from the fund. According to a decision published by the Central Election Commission, none of the smaller parties will receive any money.

However, the State Election Commissioner has yet to take a decision which will then serve to decide how the money will be distributed within the coalition Democratic Party- Alliance for Change.

A meeting had been set up on Monday to approve the distribution of the funds from the State Election Commissioner, but it was later postponed as one of the electoral subjects called for more time to get acquainted with the acts.
