Supporters of the Democratic Party have announced plans to protest in front of the party’s headquarters calling for the resignation of Lulzim Basha after the defeat at the polls.

Euronews Albania journalist Renaldo Salianji said that the protest, organized by the former deputy leader of the Democratic Youth Forum, is set to begin at 5 PM.

Standing in front of the party’s headquarters, Lisandër Hoxha said that Democrats are “going through a crisis”, and this has to be “admitted by all”.

“I invited all Democrats to participate in today’s hearing. The elections showed that we’re going through multiple crises here at the DP and this can be indicated also by disappointed Democrats. We’re going through a crisis and everybody must admit that”, he said.

“This is the party of freedom and sacrifices; it is the party that promoted democracy in Albania. We all want this home, therefore I call on all sides, to sit down and unravel our platforms on how to walk towards victory”, he added.

The former deputy chair of the youth forum also said that in order to overcome the hurdle, the first step is to admit that there is a crisis and then unchain the communication channels within the party in order to find a solution.

There have been several developments inside the party’s headquarters, reportedly a group of attorneys gathered to document several violations committed during the campaign as well as during the vote-counting process.

Also, today DP’s leader Basha met with representatives of the Democratic Party from Shkodra, Fier, Korca, and Elbasan.

Another meeting that took place was between a delegation from the Slovenian Embassy and DP’s secretary on foreign affairs, but there is no information on the topic of their discussion.
