On Wednesday, Kosovo’s President Mr. Hashim Thaçi along with his wife Lumnije Thaçi attended a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. As the leader of the Kosovo Delegation, President Thaçi is in New York for the Annual United Nations General Assembly that takes place throughout September.

Through a status update on his Official Facebook Page, President Thaçi expressed Kosovo’s appreciation for the constant support that the country has been receiving from the U.S. since its Independence.

“It is a great pleasure, to once again meet U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump here at the United Nations, while at the same time, I am here expressing the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for the continuous support we have been receiving from the U.S.” wrote Thaçi. In a statement to the Media, the President of Kosovo says that support from the U.S. is vital for maintaining peace and stability in the Western Balkans and throughout the European Union.

Currently, Kosovo is not a Member of the United Nations and one of the main reasons for the visit is to lobby for the Country’s International Recognition in many IGO’s. In addition to President Thaçi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Behgjet Pacolli and Kosovo’s Ambassador to the U.S. Vlora Çitaku also participated in the proceedings at the United Nations General Assembly.
