The Specialized Court of Appeals has accepted the appeal of the Lapsi.al news media portal, led by Andi Bushati and Armand Shkullaku, by thus nullifying the verdict of the First Instance Court for the sequestration of the portal’s servers.
Lapsi.al was the first media outlet to publish the data belonging to the database of the Socialist Party, which included very private information of over 1 million Albanian citizens, who were also each assigned a personal Patron, tasked with overseeing their personal information starting from details about their family, their place of work, place of residence, phone numbers and all the way to political preference and who they voted for.
Meanwhile, the Court of Strasburg demanded the Specialized Court to not act upon the previously reached verdict of confiscating the portal’s privately owned servers.
For several weeks now, SPAK has started a probe into this case connected to the serious offense of collecting and publishing citizens’ personal and sensitive data, by also asking for the expertise of IT experts.
