Analysts Andi Bushati and Baton Haxhiu discussed today’s recent events, regarding the US Department of State’s declaration of Berisha as persona non-grata, during Euronews Albania’s political commentary show ‘Shock’.

According to analyst Andi Bushati, the decision coming at this very moment has one goal, to give way to the “regime of Rama’s stolen votes…”

According to Bushati, it isn’t a novelty that Americans give priority to stability over democracy, because this decision regarding Berisha should’ve come earlier, at a time when he was Prime Minister, was involved in Gerdec or January 21st, at a time when the US called him a Head of State.

“I see Berisha today, painted by the US. But when we were saying these things about Berisha, Americans called it a coup. There are two key issues here; corruption in Gerdec and the attack on democracy with the murder of protestors. Why this hypocrisy, why was Berisha in 2011 a good man?

The only thing that has changed is that back then, he was in power and the bad guys then, were Rama and Kokedhima.

Today, the Secretary of State has signed it, but Rama forewarned it in 2019. Today, they see the risk that the opposition gets up in protests and shakes off the system because of the stolen votes. It is a signal for the opposition, that between stability and democracy, America has prevailed with the second one; When Berisha has committed crimes, they protected him. Americans don’t care who governs Albania,” said analyst Bushati.
