Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, confirmed the disengagement of 12 ambassadors arguing that they were political appointees.
The story was confirmed by the deputy foreign affairs minister; however, foreign minister Gërvalla will give more elaborate details later during the day.
The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo criticized the move as “an unprecedented act”.
“The decision of the President of Kosovo, upon the initiative of the Foreign Affairs Minister, to release from duty several ambassadors of Kosovo are unprecedented and politically immature, and will have a negative effect on Kosovo’s foreign policy”, said Ramush Haradinaj, adding that none of the ambassadors is affiliated to any political subject.
