Considering the claims raised by the US Department of State against him as “false accusations”, the former PM of Albania, Sali Berisha stated that he has sued the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken at the Correctional Tribunal of Paris.
While emphasizing that not even his harshest political opponents have ever raised such claims against him, Berisha stated that the accusations are “a comedy and political montage”, that have the only goal of damaging his dignity.
“Before my dignity, I do not fear anyone in the world, I will put my dignity back to its rightful place,” said the former Prime Minister.
When asked whether he would resign from politics after being declared ‘non grata’ by the United States, the former PM said that he would take something like this into consideration, if the supporting evidence was actually published.
“I do not know what the fantasies or projects of others are. I expressed this consideration and I got informed about my next step,” said Berisha.
Regarding the insinuations in the media, that PM Edi Rama already knew this information since back in 2019, Berisha stated that this could have something to do with his stance against the idea for border changes in the Balkans.
“There was a tendency, after I came out against the project for the demarcation of Kosovo and the border changes,” said the historic leader of DP.
Regarding the stance held by Lulzim Basha, Berisha said that DP was obligated to take a stance, because he is part of the parliamentary group of this party.
In addition, when asked about President Ilir Meta’s silence regarding this decision by the US Department of State, the former PM called it something “completely normal” adding that Mr. Meta “doesn’t have any reason to pronounce himself”.
