Journalist Arbana Xharra stated during a live video-call from the United States, on Euronews Albania that the declaration ‘non grata’ for Sali Berisha and his immediate family is linked to Berisha’s war against the vetting process as well as the justice reform.

Xharra stated that the same measures are expected to be taken against other renowned personalities, who according to her, work for Berisha even though he is not in power because they are backed by him.

“There are talks of other names as well, we saw several other names from Croatia, China etc., where corruption in this case, doesn’t only constitute the extortion of tenders, but also ideological corruption, in this case, of Albanian Judges, with the aim of sabotaging the vetting process in Albania.

There could be a network of people, who have collaborated up until the full installment of this system,” stated Xharra.

Regarding the lawsuit that Berisha is expected to be filing against the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, Xharra stated that the former PM of Albania has no chance against him, because we are not dealing with a personal judgment, but an official verdict of the United States Government. According to Xharra, Berisha would only suffer great financial losses from this lawsuit, because his rehabilitation won’t be possible for decades.

Xharra also argued that this last decision of the American government is a straightforward message directed at Albanian politicians, pushing for reformation and to continue the reform on justice.
