Mentor Kikia was skeptical regarding the individuals racing for DP’s new leadership. Kikia stated that except for Agron Shehaj, the other two individuals, respectively Edith Harxhi and Fatbardh Kadilli have been very passive during DP’s campaign in these elections and because of this, it is difficult for them to rekindle any kind of trust.
“Out of the ones that have already declared a race, only Shehaj has been part of the campaign. I haven’t heard him say something,” said Kikia.
According to Kikia, there is a difference between the leader and the administrator of a party, a role which he presents as a parallel to Agron Shehaj. He raised the question, whether Shehaj would be the right person to inspire Albanians and to face off PM Rama.
“We mix up the director with the leader. A director is an administrator for the party, elected by vote. A leader isn’t chosen through votes. Is this the right person to inspire Albanians? Because we don’t want an administrator for DP, but a person that can be ready to go against Rama in the future,” said Mentor Kikia.
Journalist Kikia also added that our country doesn’t have a democratic tradition within parties and the parties that have tried to act democratically, have always created clashes amongst members that have left in order to create smaller parties. He didn’t exclude the fact that after these elections, within DP, there could be divisions.
“There is a chance that DP could undergo further division, after the conclusion of these leadership elections,” argued Kikia.
