Fiona Mali, one of the 4 architects representing Albania at the 17th international Venice Biennale, was invited on Euronews Albania to speak about the concept of our country’s pavilion, which will be titled “In our home”, and revolve around the themes of relearning how to interact with one another and our living spaces.
‘In our home’ seeks to highlight the bond between neighbors and how living next to each other defines the structural identity of the built environment.
In and of itself, the title ‘In our home’ is directly related to the answer to the question posed by the curator of the Biennale, Harkim Sarkis, which is: “How will we live together?”, said Mali.
“Our answer has been very straightforward: Get to know your neighbor, and this is why we treat the concept of neighborhood and the way we used to live together and how we were closer, in order to understand how we could possibly reclaim our lives, together and united, in this new era,” she added.
Mali also pointed out that everything is presented through two mediums.
According to her, the first medium is the personal testimonies of several individuals.
Whereas the second medium is the film showing in live-action, how neighbors used to interact and share these experiences with one another.
61 countries are partaking in the 17’th Venice Biennale, Architecture edition.
Fiona Mali will be joined by three other architects: Irola Andoni, Malvina Ferra and Rudina Breçani.
