The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha continued his campaign for the new Chair of DP, through meetings with the members of his party in the cities of Pogradec and Korça, in south-eastern Albania.
Basha expressed his conviction that “the only political force that can bring the much-anticipated change in the country is the Democratic Party, which is fundamentally based on civility, and on values instead of anti-values”.
According to the acting leader of DP, his objective regarding the leadership elections within the party that are set to take place on June 13th, is for democrats to come out at the other end of the race, more united than ever before.
“To me, this is the number-one objective of this internal race, which is dictated by the rules and regulations of our Statute. This is my first request, that we can come out of this race, just as united, in fact, even more united than when we entered it because the historical responsibility laid upon us by the Albanian citizens, the fate of the country, the fate of the cities, of the districts, they go beyond individual fate and individual interests.
These elections or rather this race within our party, is without a doubt a welcomed moment and a moment that attests before the entire public sphere, the complete opposite of what is said about us, because we are an open party that is based on values, we are a party that favours competition, we are a party of civility and a European party,” stated Basha.
