After approving their final report on President Ilir Meta, the Inquiry Commission has decided to take their proposal to the Albanian Parliament.
After 3 weeks, the second Inquiry Commission has finally ended its proceedings to impeach president Ilir Meta.
During the meeting held this morning, while presenting the final report on Meta, the head of the investigative commission, Alket Hyseni stated that this report will be unanimously voted and presented to Parliament within 7 days.
Euronews Albania’s journalist, Eksiola Shehu reported that after this final report has been approved by the commission, there will be a debate session in Parliament, the date of which is still awaiting confirmation by the Conference of Leaders, and finally it will be voted by the MPs of the Albanian Parliament.
94 votes in favor are needed in order to discharge the President of the Republic.
Previously, the party in power has shown that it has been able to acquire votes from the parliamentary opposition, every time it needed to pass important laws.
According to the ruling party, the president has violated the Constitution through the language used on multiple public appearances, during and after the electoral campaign.
The Head of State, Ilir Meta has never attended the sessions held by this Commission, despite numerous invitations from the ruling party. The President has responded by saying that he doesn’t recognize the authority of this commission that according to him, was voted by an illegitimate parliament.
