Two days ago, Guardia di Finanza’s plane discovered a massive cannabis plantation in the region of Fushe-Kruja, by submitting the exact coordinates to the State’s Police Department, which then resulted in the immediate intervention and eradication of 30 000 plants.
During a “motivating” meeting with the officers of Guardia di Finanza, who have now been deployed to Albania, the Italian ambassador in our country Fabrizio Bucci stated that the only way to fight crime is collaboration.
The Italian ambassador, Fabrizio Bucci and the Deputy Chief of the Italian Police Department, Vitorio Rizzi presented the new mission of Guardia di Finanza that aims to monitor Albanian airspace in the battle against the cultivation of cannabis.
Ambassador Bucci valued the collaboration between both countries in the battle against narcotics while shining light onto the successful operation seizing a large quantity of cocaine in Kosovo recently as well as the eradication of thousands of cannabis trees during a police operation two days ago in the Fushe-Kruja region.
“Criminality doesn’t know any boundaries, which is why we are collaborating, Italy-Albania and Kosovo. For Guardia di Finanza, numbers speak for themselves, like in the operation ‘Agimi’ where thousands of cannabis plants were discovered by our GDF plane. We are here to show that we are united against crime and the visit of deputy Chief Rizzi showed exactly this,” stated the Italian ambassador to Albania, Fabrizio Bucci.
Vittorio Rizzi also took advantage of this press conference to speak about matters of security and to congratulate the collaboration with his Albanian homologs.
“Even though it was a pandemic year, the number of people established wanted, arrested and the number of those that have been extradited has increased. We are collaborating for the air space monitoring between Guardia di Finanza and the Albanian police for the discovery of cannabis plantation. The number of confiscations in Italian coasts has also lowered and we have officially established several investigative teams,” stated the deputy chief of the Italian Police Department.
For years now, the officers of Guardia di Finanza have been monitoring the Albanian air space especially during the cultivation season of the cannabis plant. In the end, a detailed report is submitted with the results of their operations.
