On the agenda of today’s plenary session were the reports of six independent institutions and the review of two bills on the usage of pyrotechnical devices.
The first to stand at the podium was High Inspector of Justice Artur Metani who presented the 2020 annual report.
Metani said that the backlog of the cases surpasses 3.000.
“The number of files submitted to the High Justice Inspectorate (ILD) from the High Judicial Council, High Prosecutorial Council, General Prosecution Office, and Ministry of Justice, as well as complaints submitted by the institution itself up until December 2020, surpasses the 3.000 figure”, he declared.
In his report, Metani stated that so far 8 verdicts on disciplinary investigations have been issued, of which 2 prosecutors and 6 judges.
“A voluminous amount of work has been completed in eleven months, considering that every request reaching the institution has to undergo several phases with specific deadlines, such as evaluation, verification, investigation, and a disciplinary proceeding. During 2020, ILD authorized 8 disciplinary investigations, of which 2 were prosecutors and 6 judges”, he said.
