The Prosecution Office of Tirana is seeking a 20-year prison sentence for Nevaldo Hajdaraj, the former police officer that shot dead Klodian Rasha.
Hajdaraj will most likely benefit from the abbreviated sentence, which will reduce his stay in prison by six years.
The Court of Tirana will issue its verdict on June 17.
Klodian Rasha was shot on December 8, at a five meters distance from the former cop.
The tragic story sparked massive riots that lasted for days in the capital, as well as other cities.
Initially, Hajdaraj was charged with “murder committed in excess of self-defense”, but after analyzing camera footage from the crime scene, the former police officer was slapped with a tougher sentence and charged with “first-degree murder”.
