For the impeachment of President Meta, the socialist majority in Parliament will need 94 votes, so in order to achieve their goal, they will need the help of MPs from the opposition.

“I will be consequential with the stances I have always held in regards to my opposition stances, in regards to my political convictions, to the modern European conservative philosophy,” stated Artur Roshi, MP of the democratic group.

At a time, when the MPs of this legislature only have one month to conclude their term, there are also several members of the opposition that are split regarding their pick on June 9th.

“I haven’t decided yet. I have to read the Inquiry Commission’s report in its entirety and with focus, which I still haven’t obtained as there is certainly enough time to decide. We have to separate the moral side from the legal one and morally yes, he has overstepped the Constitution, from a legal perspective, we have to see the full report of the commission in more detail,” stated MP Andi Përmeti.

Once a part of SMI’s lists, today in Parliament, MP Ralf Gjoni says that his stance won’t change from the one he held a year ago.

“I’m not a judge,” stated Ralf Gjoni, MP of an independent group.

– But you do have the right to vote on June 9th? – asked Euronews Albania journalist, Eksiola Shehu.

“To which, I will abstain like I have abstained one year ago because I see it as a political game, which could’ve been solved over a very good bottle of wine amongst Edi Rama and Ilir Meta,” responded the MP.

If parliament will vote in favor of Ilir Meta’s impeachment, the last word regarding his future as Head of State will belong to the Constitutional Court.
