As the number of positive cases has been minimal and on a steady decline for some time now, the Ministry of Health is setting provisions that will make it possible for tourists during the entire summer season, to get rapid COVID-19 testing all around the coastline, in order to further prevent the spread of another wave of infections.

Minister, Ogerta Manastirliu stated today that there are currently 29 centres, which offer this service, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, and starting from June 15th, additional centres are expected to open up like in the region of Shengjin, where a massive number of tourists from Kosovo are already booked and projected to arrive this month.

The Health Minister also emphasized that authorities are taking the necessary measures to fill up all prescriptions and shortages in medical and pharmaceutical centres, as well as supply them with the COVID-19 rapid tests.

“The inclusion of the rapid test within the structures of our healthcare centres, comes as an added service that will prove to be very valuable, be it for the early detection of possible COVID cases as well as for their isolation. It will also do a great service to the surveillance system that is now up and functioning across the entire territory. This is why, the supply with rapid tests should continue during the entire season,” declared Manastirliu.

The medical personnel will be offered training that will continue until the opening of the 29 centres in the entire country on June 15th, a plan which according to the Minister of Health will include vaccination, setting up summer centres in all the main tourist destinations, disinfection and training medical staff so that we can have a safe tourist season.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced through their official page that there will cease to be any limitations or restrictions for visitors arriving to Albania.

For anyone wishing to learn more about the guidelines and protocol that will need to be followed, the Ministry has currently put up a webpage, that provides more detailed information for all visitors.
