If you live anywhere in Albania, you’re probably wondering what do this sunny weekend in the country. We’ve compiled a list of all the fun things to do including a number of cultural events as well as outdoor and indoor exhibitions.
We will begin our journey with contemporary artist Robert Aliaj and his latest exhibition “Inevitable- The wall, which will be displayed at “COD”, located on the first floor of the Prime Minister’s office.
“The wall protects me but also isolates me. Do I have to be grateful? Or do I have to be fearful?”, is the key question raised by the artist, aiming to stir the imagination of the visitors.
“We, who went through the period of communism, were not the only ones with walls, the new generations installed new walls, walls were also installed by others,” the artist said.
This exhibition remains firstly individual because it reveals the artist’s internal communication approach, which turns into something comprehensive because communication is social, political and current.
Another exhibition you can enjoy is displayed at the Castle of Tirana, in the heart of the city.
“The space surrounding us”, by artist Artan Shabani, portrays through paintings each of the artists’ concept on the space encircling us.
“A human being, a man, a citizen, a man who at one point stops and feels observed by this urban void and carries on his shoulders a toilet,” Artan Shabani says comments on one of his works.
Although this weekend there will not be any theatrical shows, mostly due to COVID-19 restrictions, the well-known Albanian director Kiço Londo will being a theatrical journey in many cities in Albania with many outdoor shows.
