The incumbent leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, headed today to the party’s headquarters alongside former MP Jorida Tabaku to cast his ballot in the leadership elections.

In a brief declaration to the media, Basha said that these elections are “unique” and an expression of the party’s internal democracy.

“I would like to thank the media for covering this unique process, all Democrats, commissioners, and observers in this process of values, of Democrats, in electing through one member one vote which is a value of democracy, competition and debate. We began the battle for change for all Albanians through these values and we will take it to the end with the toppling of the Rama-Doshi regime”, said Basha.

Polls opened today at 8 AM, while voting will continue until 7 PM. There are over 75,000 DP members entitled to vote for the party’s new leader with a 4-year mandate.
