Through a letter directed at the European Chief of Diplomacy, Josep Borrell, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has confirmed the continuation of the mandate of EU’s Mission for the Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) for an additional year.
Kosovo’s President has said that this mandate could even be extended for another year if the work and performance of EULEX continue positively.
Osmani has also asked EULEX to provide technical and advice-giving support in the issues arising from the Istanbul Convention for the prevention as well as the war on violence against women and domestic violence.
Amongst other things, Osmani also admitted that EULEX’s mandate is a technical and monitoring one that is in complete compliance with the Republic’s Constitution.
“This mandate for EULEX is a technical mandate, based exclusively on an advice-giving, mentoring and monitoring role, in compliance with Kosovo’s Constitution,” stated in the notice of Kosovo’s presidency.
