In a ceremony, where the US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim was also present, the European Command of the United States has donated $1 million dollars in medical equipment against COVID-19 to the “Mother Theresa” hospital.
Ambassador Kim stated that this donation shows the care that the American people are showing to Albanian citizens.
“When, somebody opens that refrigerator to get out a dose of vaccine, when a patient lies down on one of those beds, when an expert reads one of those screens, I hope they are reminded somewhere deep in their hearts, that the American people care. We care very much about the Albanian people,” declared the diplomat.
While speaking on the current COVID-19 situation in our country, the US ambassador stated that Albania “has one of the lowest levels of infection in the entire world and it also has some of the highest vaccination levels in Europe”.
The diplomat pointed out that “So, for much of the world, I think sometimes Albania gets underestimated. But I am here as a live witness and I can say that Albania and the Albanian people – thanks to all of you – have pulled through in model fashion.
The donation will include hospital beds and mattresses for the ICU ward, ventilators, x-ray machines, ultrasound machines, and protective equipment.
In total, said the ambassador, the US counts “around 1 billion dollars of contribution for Albania alone in the last 3 decades.”
