The EU Ambassador to Albania, Luigi Soreca, said that the country needs more specialized prosecutors when it comes to combatting human trafficking.
The head of the EU delegation attended the conference “Joint Efforts to Combat trafficking in human beings in Albania” organized by OSCE Presence in Albania.
According to him, the strategy to combat this form of crime requires the involvement of joining up forces with other non-EU member countries, which most of the time serve as a transit for the traffic of human beings.
“Access in the justice system is of particular importance”, said Ambassador Soreca as he emphasized that traffickers guilty of these atrocious crimes should be slapped by final sentences.
We must work all together to turn human trafficking trafficking from a low risk/high profit crime, into a high risk/low profit crime. Also in #Albania🇦🇱.
The new #EU🇪🇺strategy focuses on the following key areas:
✔️Closer law enforcement & judicial cooperation….1/2 https://t.co/g0IAGiJg7s

Meanwhile, Ambassador Soreca also brought to the spotlight the need for more financial investments in order to provide shelter and assistance to those who have fallen victim to human trafficking.
