The justice reform strategy, kicking off from 2021, is expected to cost up to €57 million. A draft submitted for public consultation proposes several scenarios on the reform’s progress and its repercussions on the justice system due to the vetting process.

Extension of up to at least 10 years and costs amassing €57 million was provided in the cross-cutting justice strategy 2021-2025, submitted for consultation by the Ministry of Justice.

The draft displays the main indicators on performance, in order to measure results, coordination methods, monitoring and reporting, as well as predicting the general budget of the reform.

The strategy sets forth two plans in regard to the costs of the justice reform in the upcoming years.

Regarding investments, the focus is mainly on restoring facilities, such as the court’s building, the new corpus at the justice building, and the penitentiary system, however, the proposal is that this is done by the end of the justice reform, respectively 2026-2030.

Considering that the justice system has a large portion of independent institutions, the draft was conceptualized as an umbrella strategy that will mainly contain the most important objectives and expected results.

In order to guarantee that specific objectives are achieved, the strategic document is completed with the action plan assembled with the aim of disaggregating the detailed measures that every institution will undertake in order to fulfill their specific objective.
