During her word in the ‘Forum of Prespa’, Kosovo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gervalla-Schwarz stated that Kosovo is tired of the dialogue with Serbia which has been going on for years, while adding that a solution needs to be found promptly, proposing the mutual recognition between both countries, as one that would resolve the current standstill.
Immediately after this declaration, the Serbian ambassador to North Macedonia, Nevena Jovanović, who was in the public, took the opportunity to retaliate.
Since the Serbian MFA wasn’t present in the Forum, the ambassador asked to say her word, during which she spoke in the name of Serbia, saying that she doesn’t think about mutual recognition at all, but rather about an amelioration of relations between Prishtina and Belgrade. According to her, mutual recognition is not part of discussions or the dialogue roundtable in Brussels.
During his statement, the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer stated that the US offers and ensures complete support for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Palmer added that Brussels and EU’s Special Envoy, Miroslav Lajcak have also offered their full support for the dialogue, so that we can finally put an end to issues surrounding Kosovo.
Today’s forum included the participation of the Macedonian president, Stevo Pendarovski, the Montenegrin president, Milo Đukanović, the Slovenian president, Borut Pahor, the Serbian PM, Ana Brnabic, the PM of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the PM of Albania, Edi Rama.
