North Macedonia has confirmed its fourth case with the hyper-transmissible Delta strain.
One of the patients diagnosed with the new strain is on life support, confirm health authorities.
Meanwhile, medical authorities are now alarmed after the detection of Delta strain, which was initially detected in India, and are now expecting test results on other 4 patients that might have contracted the virus.
In the last weeks, the epidemiological situation had improved significantly but the presence of the highly contagious strain has now raised fresh concerns.
After relaxing most of the pandemic-related measures ahead of the summer season, health authorities are cautioning citizens for more prudence.
The virus has claimed the lives of 5,486 citizens, while over 155,700 have tested positive from the beginning of the pandemic.
