The ten companies that were paid the most by the State Treasury during 2020, benefited a grand total of €178 million euros.
According to data released by Open Data, 7 of the most-paid businesses operate in the building sector, while the list is topped by TAP AG Albania, the firm that led the construction of the natural gas Trans Adriatic pipeline or TAP.
The latter received a total of €39.6 million euros, for the refund of VAT tax, on goods and services.
Second in the list was the construction company G.P.G with €22.8 million euros, for concessions in the hydric sector and tenders for the construction of squares in city centers, part of the government’s Urban Renaissance project.
Meanwhile, the construction firm that built the Arber Road, ‘Gjoka 87’ is ranked third with 6 transactions amounting to a grand total of €20.7 million euros, followed by ‘Kastrati’ company, that operated in the fuel sector and Fusha Shpk, which contains a long list of public contracts within its portfolio, like the construction of the Skanderbeg square, the reconstruction of Tirana’s Pyramid and ‘Lungomare’ promenade in the city of Vlore.
Salillari firm, also part of this list, benefiting a total of €13.7 million euros, mainly for the construction of roads, including work of two lots in Tirana’s Grand Ring.
Alb-Star and ‘Gjikuria’ have each gained a €13-million-euro profit. ALB-START is known for the construction of the Air Albania stadium, whereas ‘Gjikuria’ for the tenders won in road construction projects.
The list of ten businesses paid the most is concluded by the Turkish company, AYEN-AS Energy with €12 million euros, that has signed a deal for the concession of HECs (Hydro-electric Power Plants) and AGBES Construction, a contracting company in the field of investment, which benefited a total of €11.8 million euros from the State Treasury.
