North Macedonia has approved the use of Pfizer jabs on children over 12.

The Minister of Health, Venko Filipce, said health authorities must show up and apply for a vaccine from Monday to Thursday.

“When it comes to the inoculation of children, we will need to put a deadline for the applications that will be posted on the official webpage of the ministry starting from Monday to Thursday. The process will start afterward, as when you unseal a Pfizer vaccine you need to administer it to 6 people, and in case only two people show up, then the rest have to be thrown out,”, said minister Filipce.

Citizens in North Macedonia no longer need to apply in order to get a COVID-19 vaccine, with the health minister commending the entire process.

“I think it is a good system to continue without the applications, with the aim of attracting the citizens’ interest, so that they can come at any time of day. I will speak with the directors of the medical centers to see how we will arrange the schedule”, he said.

The inoculation of citizens with mobile vaccine teams is proceeding normally, informed the health minister, adding that those who have received AstraZeneca will need to show up for their second dose six weeks after the first.

So far, more than 662,000 citizens have received at least one vaccine dose.
