Two citizens have died after more than 800 people fell sick over the last weekend in the town of Decan, with authorities suspecting that it might be due to contaminated water.
The Prosecution Office of Peja is seeking an autopsy of the victims in order to determine their cause of death.
The Mayor of Decan, Bashkim Ramosaj, told media that this is the second time that a similar incident has been recorded in two months, raising doubts of a possible foul play.
Yesterday, the director of the Public Health Institute told media that test results showed that the water was within the norms, but urged citizens to avoid exposure to the water until further notice.
President Vjosa Osmani also asked for a prompt investigation into the matter.
