The General Prosecutor of Peja Agim Kurmehaj told the media during a press briefing that he has called on the police to compile a report about the presence of two Serb nationals in Decan, the town where more than 1,500 people have fallen sick with symptoms commonly attributed to poisoning.
“Regarding the two Serbian nationals, given that the Prosecution was not informed on the case, today I have requested the police to compile an urgent report and brief me over the matter. Then, we will take the take necessary measures in that direction. We will keep you updated”, said Kurmehaj.
The General Prosecutor said that it is “too early to arrive on any conclusions” over their potential involvement.
“I have tasked two prosecutors to pursue the matter with utmost urgency. We are working intensively to find out whether people were involved, but at the moment we cannot make any conclusions”, Kurmehaj said.
The police had been informed and have obtained camera footage from the visit of two Serbian nationals at a restaurant in Decan a month ago.
On the other hand, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic asserted that he has been informed about the case, including the car they were driving and how far from the water catchment they were.
