Bars and restaurants will be allowed to play music until 11 PM, according to a recommendation made by the Technical Committee of Experts on Monday, while authorities encouraged citizens to get vaccinated.
Initially, it was Prime Minister Edi Rama to speak about extending the hours until when can venues play music, in light of a protest in Vlora, a tourism hotspot in Albania, where restaurant and bar owners called on the government to allow music until midnight.
According to deputy health minister Mira Rakacolli the epidemiological situation remains “under control” indicating that the relaxed measures will stay in force.
Rakacolli urged citizens over 65 to get the COVID-19 as the age group accounts for the highest number of active cases.
In addition, the director of the Public Health Institute Albana Fico also spoke about the Delta strain, although authorities have not confirmed its presence in the country.
“We still don’t have any evidence from our reference lab, despite getting many unusual signals from ISHP’s virology lab. We remain at an incidence rate of 5 per 100 thousand residents. In addition, there are only 5 patients admitted to hospital due to COVID-19 and none of them in the intensive care unit” said Fico.
