The Mayor of Decan, Bashkim Ramosaj, announced that authorities have decided to lift the state of emergency imposed on July 13, after more than 1,500 citizens fell ill from what was largely suspected as water contamination.

On Facebook, Ramosaj said that the situation is “now stable” and that patients are recovering without any side effects.

“Today, at the meeting of the Emergency Management Unit, we decided to suspend the State of Emergency”, Ramosaj wrote.

Initially, authorities suspected that citizens fell ill from contaminated water, however, samples tested pointed to different results causing even more ambiguity on what led to the massive poisoning of the citizens of Decan.
