The declaration of the Serbian Interior Minister, Aleksandar Vulin that the Serbian military should protect Serbs, wherever they live in the Balkan region, has triggered numerous reactions.
Vulin also said that the duty of the current generation of politicians in Serbia is to “create a Serbian world and unite Serbs, wherever they may be”.
The office of the president of Kosovo has pointed out that “this threatening discourse regarding a ‘unification of Serbs’ is an indicator that Serbia isn’t able to this day, to distance themselves from the genocidal politics and regime of Slobodan Milosevic.”
Bosnia and Hercegovina’s Foreign Minister, Bisera Turkovic came out with a statement saying that she was expecting from the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, to immediately distance himself from the declarations of minister Vulin, regarding a unification of the ‘Serbian world’.
If Vucic doesn’t do this, Turkovic believes that this will only confirm that his official politics and that of Serbia is focused in overthrowing the Dayton Peace Agreement and that it aims to unify parts of Bosnia and Hercegovina with Serbia.
These declarations were made by Vulin during the 13th anniversary of the political subject he leads, the Socialist Movement, during the ceremony of which, the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic was also present. Not only has Vucic not distanced himself from such declarations, but he has considered him as a comrade-in-arms for a strong, modern and free Serbia”.
