The Special Prosecution Office is trying to turn the high-ranking officials that were arrested over the abuse of the Police Uniforms Tender into collaborators of justice.
Euronews Albania’s journalist, Merin Maçi reports that there have been several attempts to have two of the public officials – that are now facing allegations of ‘Obstructing the right to equality in tenders’ – provide any valuable details regarding their superiors or any other kind of indication that the orders might have come from above.
The prosecutors’ goal is the discover more individuals that might be involved in these schemes, but to date there’s no information regarding whether or not these attempts have led to any favorable results.
Investigations conducted by the Agency of Concentrated Purchases for the police uniforms tender, began after a denouncement for another abusive tender made by an enterprise, that was later put together under the same probe, following the denouncement of the former MPs of the parliamentary opposition.
To date, 9 high-ranking former and existing officials have been arrested.
In addition, investigations have shown that 2 public officials hadn’t agreed to sign the tender documents, because they had noticed violations or irregularities.
