Apartment prices in Tirana vary depending on the area, where the most coveted ones can even cost €1,900 per square meter, aligning the capital among the most expensive in the region.

But looking into a salary ratio, the majority of Albanians declared that they cannot afford to buy a new home. In the latest questionnaire compiled by the Bank of Albania, 88 out of 100 responded that it is potentially impossible to buy or build a new home for themselves.

Picked randomly, the answers of the respondents point to 4 optional alternatives. Based on figures, investment opportunities in the last two years have decreased significantly, mainly due to the pandemic, which rocked the economy amid throttling restrictions.

But the reality of consumer savings and insecurity is not only displayed in major expenditures, but also in smaller purchases. The Bank of Albania measures consumer confidence through 15 questions, including an assessment of the financial state, security in the workplace, home restoration, or the purchase of a new vehicle.

In the majority of cases, the answers indicate limitations, although, in comparison to 2020, there are more notes of optimism.
