Over the past 24 hours, 99 citizens tested positive to COVID-19 after authorities tested more than 3,500 suspected samples.

The majority of the new cases were detected in Tirana, which has been the worst-hit city throughout the entire pandemic.

In total, authorities estimate that there are 539 active cases across the country, while 23 patients are receiving medical care at the hospital.

The official death toll from the beginning of the pandemic is 2,457.
