The former police officer charged with the first-degree murder of 25-year old Klodian Rasha last December has turned to the Appeal Court.
Nevaldo Hajdaraj is seeking to amend the charges against him, from murder with intent to excessive use of force in self-defense.
His appeal request was deposited by the end of July, and the Appeal court is set to draw a lot on who will try the defendant.
The Court of Tirana sentence Hajdaraj to 15 years in prison, but he will most likely only serve 10 years due to abbreviated trial benefits.
The victim’s father, Qazim Rasha, was utterly disappointed as he exited the last trial, stating that the court’s ruling does not do justice to his son’s murder.
The Prosecution has also appealed the court’s decision after seeking 20 years for the former cop.
