The number of new COVID-19 cases detected over the past 24 hours continues to increase with 132 citizens diagnosed with the virus, although no fatalities were recorded.
Less than half of the new cases were reported in Tirana, with Shkodra and Vai i Dejes also recording high figures.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that there are currently an estimated 642 active infections across the country.
The total number of patients admitted to the Infective Diseases hospital in Tirana has reached 26, but no patient is under intensive care.
Authorities have stepped up the vaccination drive in a bid to break the chain of infections fueled by the highly contagious Delta strain. For this reason, all citizens older than 18 are now eligible to get the COVID-19 shot by showing up at one of the vaccination sites.
