Tatjana Haxhiaj, a 57-year-old woman, has passed away one week after the death of her husband following burning injuries sustained during a fire in Gjirokastra.
Haxhiaj was admitted to Mother Theresa Hospital in Tirana on August 3 with severe burns, but despite specialized medical care, she could not survive the injuries.
According to Global Forest Watch, an organization monitoring fires across the globe through satellite images, there were over 300 fire outbreaks across Albania.
The majority of the blazes were recorded in the past 3 weeks in the Karaburun Peninsula, Gjirokastra, and Kukes.
On Tuesday, police authorities claimed 33 people were responsible for the fires across the country.
