Kosovo confirms for Euronews Albania that it has been talking to US about Afghan migrants

The government of Kosovo has just confirmed for Euronews Albania that is has in fact been conducting discussions with the US government in regards to the matter of temporarily sheltering Afghan officials whose lives are at risk in their home country.

The head of PM Albin Kurti’s staff, Luan Dalipi told Euronews that the Kosovo government has been holding continuous communications with US authorities since mid-July.

“There is a lot of logistics and technical work, when it comes to security and social issues that we are treating very carefully. The US is our main ally and our strategic partner. Everything will wrap up in the best way possible,” – said Dalipi in his communication.

After the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, the militant group of the self-pronounced Islamic State, the Taleban, has organized insurgencies in the local structure of the majority of Afghan cities.

Presently, the only city still being operated by Afghan authorities is the capital city, Kabul.
