The government of North Macedonia is ready to take in Afghan citizens, who have been working with the armed forces and peacekeeping missions of NATO and other international organizations.
PM Zoran Zaev declared that on Sunday, the Afghans will be settled in hotels, whereas the cost of their stay will be covered by the US government.
He didn’t give any details regarding the total number of Afghan citizens that his government will be accepting.
In Afghanistan, there are currently 100 citizens from North Macedonia working for private companies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that a plan is being drafted regarding the withdrawal of their citizens in case of danger.
The Albanian government as well as the Kosovo government have notified that they are conducting discussions with the US and are ready to accept Afghan citizens, whose lives are in danger because of the Taliban.
