Defense minister, Niko Peleshi declared that 3 000 hectares of forestland have been damaged by the wildfires that broke out in recent weeks.
During a meeting for the support and collaboration of the EU and Albanian institutions, Peleshi also presented the areas, where authorities are working on putting out the active flames.
He emphasized that the largest wildfires are in Puke and Lezhe, which have yet to be placed under control.
“We estimate around 3 000 hectares of damages in our forestland until now. It is a considerable number, but the good news is that 2.300 hectares has been in bushland, and the other part included pines and other vegetation,” said the defense minister.
