For days now, Vlora is ranked as one of the counties reporting the highest number of new cases of COVID-19 infections.
According to the head of the epidemiology department in Vlore, Agron Bashllari, the high influx of tourists remains one of the main causes.
“The increased number of tourists and visitors, especially during the month of August, is the main cause for the rise of new cases. Based on our findings, and testing, this number is currently close to 300 cases, taking into consideration the fact that during August, the daily average is around 15 cases per day,” said the medical professional.
In addition, Bashllari urged citizens to get vaccinated, saying that it remains one of the key methods to avoid severe complications, even though he admitted that there have also been cases of patients coming in that had been previously vaccinated.
Meanwhile, vaccination continues as usual across all health centres as well as at the building known as ‘Sports Palace’, where an average of 500 vaccines are being administered.
