A young man who threw tear gas during Goran Bregovic’s performance at Korca’s Beer Fest, was arrested by the police on Monday.
The 21-year-old fired tear gas at the large crowd, which had gathered to celebrate the annual concert held in the city’s Old Bazaar.
The participation of Bregovic at Korca’s Beer Fest was met with a lot of backlash seeing that many Albanian and foreign artists were against his arrival. According to them, Bregovic has inspired the Kosovo massacres by writing verses dedicated to Serbian soldiers.
The Municipality of Korca declared on Sunday that the calls for canceling Goran Bregovic’s invitation to the festival are being used as political instruments and that is why he invited all citizens to celebrate with culture and civility.
