The second group of 113 Afghan refugees has reached the Republic of Kosovo. The news was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Svecla, who reported that the group has now been accommodated close to the city of Ferizaj.
During this Tuesday, an additional group of citizens is expected to arrive in Kosovo, who served as NATO collaborators.
“We have welcomed a total of two groups thus far. The last one arrived at midnight last night, when 113 Afghan citizens, collaborators of NATO accompanied by their immediate families were processed according to our laws, at the former camp Bechtal&Enka. Today, we will be welcoming another flight bringing in another group of Afghan citizens,” stated Svecla during a press conference.
Kosovo is expected to take in a total of around 2 000 Afghan emigrants.
Meanwhile, during the early hours of the morning, an additional 149 Afghan citizens arrived to North Macedonia.
To date, Albania has welcomed a total of 607 refugees and is expecting to provide temporary shelter to around 4 000 Afghan citizens for an unspecified period of time, until their documentation is processed and they can head to their final destination, the US.
